Aeromarine Site Recovery
Keyport deserves a timely, effective cleanup of the Aeromarine property and adjoining landfill.
Keyport Cleanup is a community-driven group working hard to acquire, remediate, and responsibly redevelop the Aeromarine site into a commercial, non-residential use for the benefit of Keyport residents and the surrounding environment.
Our priority is to ensure this site is fully and responsibly remediated to protect the community and allow for future activation that meets the rigorous standards of the NJDEP.

SAFETY FIRST
Our Commitment to Cleanup
Safety is our priority. We support comprehensive public health studies and environmental reviews to ensure the effectiveness of the cleanup and provide residents with the peace of mind they deserve.
We understand the seriousness of concerns regarding local health outcomes. While no definitive link has been established, our role is to cooperate with health authorities and focus on the immediate obligation: remediating the property.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROPERTY
The Aeromarine Site
The Aeromarine site is one of the largest undeveloped parcels in Keyport — a former industrial landfill situated directly on Raritan Bay and Chingarora Creek. Decades of inactivity have left the site contaminated and unmitigated, posing an ongoing environmental risk to surrounding waterways and the community.
The site borders Raritan Bay to the west, Chingarora Creek to the north, and residential neighborhoods to the east. Site boundary outlined in orange. Raritan Bay to the west, Chingarora Creek to the north and east, residential neighborhoods to the south.
RESTORE AND RECLAIM
A Safe, Commercial Future
Given the site's history as a legacy landfill, environmental requirements and safety constraints make residential housing impractical. We are advocating for a responsible, non-residential end use that prioritizes long-term community safety.
We recognize that residents on and near Walnut Street are closest to this site and will be most directly affected by its redevelopment. Keyport Cleanup is committed to ensure that any redevelopment is a good neighbor to the surrounding community.
Safe Commercial Use
Practical, non-residential development that creates value without the risks associated with housing on contaminated sites.
Regulatory Alignment
Future planning that remains strictly consistent with NJDEP requirements and site constraints.
Environmental Stewardship
Implementing modern engineering controls to prevent contaminant migration into our waterways and Raritan Bay.
Transparent Process
Open engagement with Keyport residents, the Borough, and regulatory bodies at every stage. The community will not be kept in the dark.
